Santorini International Airport JTR is one of the few available in the Cyclades and probably the busiest, especially during the high season (from spring to autumn).
It is located on the eastern side of the island, in the area of Monolithos. It lies around 6 km southeast of Fira and 6 km from the main ferry port (Athinios) that serves ferries to many Greek islands (Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, and more).
The travel distance between the airport of Santorini and pretty much any location on the island is approximately 10-20 minutes by car.
It welcomes not only domestic flights, but also direct flights from European countries such as the UK, Germany, France, and more.
The airport was constructed in 1976 with a traditional Cycladic design, while the implementation of a renovation project began in 2017.
