Red Beach

Location: 12 km south west of Fira

Description: Red beach is one of the most beautiful and famous beaches of Santorini. It has black and red volcanic pebbles and hot water.

Red Beach Santorini: The red beach is arguably the most famous and beautiful beaches of Santorini. It is also considered as one of the most spectacular beaches in Greece. It is located in the area of Akrotiri and only some steps away from the ancient site of Akrotiri. The small size of the beach creates a much crowded atmosphere and there are many days where most of the visitors choose not to make it all the way down to the beach and instead admire this unique landscape of red and black volcanic rocks from the headland.

Kamari beach

Location: 8.6 km south east of Fira

Description: The beach resort of Kamari is situated on the southern part of Santorini, right next to Perissa, with the enormous rock called Mesa Vouno between them.

Kamari Santorini: Kamari is a famous beach resort of Santorini situated 8.6 km southeast of Fira, the island’s capital. Quite similar to the landscape of Perissa, the beach is covered by black sand while on the left side of the beach is an enormous rock called Mesa Vouno that rises from the sea. The area is extremely attractive, especially at night when the rock shines in the dark. The beach of Kamari is fully organised offering a wide range of facilities like sunbeds, umbrellas and various types of water sports.

Perissa beach

Location: 11.7 km south east of Fira

Description: Perissa is a tourist resort that gets very crowded in summer. An impressive and organized beach, Perissa has black sand on its shore. The remains of Ancient Thera are close by.

Perissa Santorini: Perissa is a beautiful beach situated 11.7 km southeast of Fira, extending for 7 km on the southeastern side of Santorini. The beach features unique characteristics, black sand, crystalline waters and various beach facilities. However, the enormous rock called Mesa Vouno that rises from the sea is the main attraction of the beach and the entire area. Visitors are left spellbound by the stunning view of the rock especially when it shines in the dark.

Perivolos beach

Location: 11 km south of Fira

Description: Perivolos is the longest black sand of Santorini. This is an organized tourist resort with many hotels, taverns and beach bars.

Perivolos Santorini: The beautiful beach of Perivolos is the longest black beach of Santorini. It is ideally located in close proximity to Perissa which is a mere 3 km away. This beach of Santorini lies on the southern end of the island, 10 km south of Fira. It distinguishes for its sparkling azure blue waters and tranquil atmosphere. On the beachfront, there are numerous hotels but also restaurants serving fresh fish and local delicacies and bars.

Perivolos is surely one of the most well-organized beaches of Santorini offering a plethora of exciting watersports facilities like scuba diving and jet ski.

Vlychada beach

Location: 10 km south of Fira

Description: Vlychada is a nice, organized beach on the southern side of Santorini. It has a small port where fishing boats and yachts moor in summer.

Vlychada itself is quite long and is covered with dark grey sand. There are a number of sun loungers here. It is worth having a look at the rock formations behind the beach which are quite interesting.

Agios Georgios beach

Location: 11 km south east of Fira

Description: Agios Georgios is a popular beach, just 3 km from Perissa, on the southern part of Santorini. With black pebbles and organized, Agios Georgios is one of the most tourism-friendly beaches on Santorini.

A large number of restaurants and taverns are gathered along the waterfront, covering all tastes. Agios Georgios beach is clearly an great holiday spot.

Cape Columbo beach

Location: 8.5 km north east of Fira

Description: Cape Columbo is one of the most isolate and quiet beaches on Santorini. Surrounded by a wild landscape, Cape Columbo often gets windy. In fact, it is the wind and the waves that have formated the wild rocks of Columbo.

Cape Columbo Santorini: This is the most isolated beach of Santorini, located 8.5 km from Fira, the island’s capital. While reaching Columbo you can park on the headland in two different positions and make your way down through a narrow path. The impressive yet dramatic landscape will amaze you. Surrounded by a wild landscape, Cape Columbo often gets windy. In fact, it is the wind and the waves that have formated the wild rocks of Columbo.

The enormous red cliffs offer enough shade. Around the area is the most active crater of the island and the waters are really hot. Visitors should carry some water while there are no shops or restaurant nearby.

Monolithos beach

Location: 6 km east of Fira

Description: Monolithos is one of the most family-oriented beaches on Santorini. The beautiful coast has a playground and a beach volley court, while it is surrounded by few hotels.

Monolithos Beach Santorini: The beach of Monolithos is close to the beach of Kamari and near the airport of Santorini. It is quite popular among the locals and especially families. It is a long beach with black sand and shallow waters, well-organized at some parts with sunbeds and umbrellas. This beach reveals a pleasant atmosphere, that is why it is often crowded.

There is a football pitch, basketball court and for children a nice play area. There are also trees at the back of the beach for shade seekers.

The area is surrounded by various hotels and villas, restaurants and cafes

White Beach

Location: 13.4 km south west of Fira

Description: The cove right next to the Red beach is known as the White beach. It is very similar to the Red beach, with black pebbles on the shore, only that the surrounding cliffs are white.

White Beach Santorini: The White beach is actualy the cove right next to the Red beach, on the southern side of Santorini, near the village of Akrotiri. It is very similar to the Red beach, with black pebbles on the shore, only that the surrounding cliffs are white. This beach is accessible by boat or on foot from the Red beach.

It is less popular than the neighbouring cove and therefore more quiet. It doesn’t have facilities, except for some umbrellas and sunbeds along the coast, although the surrounding rocks provide some shade too.

Vourvoulos beach

Location: 4.5 km north east of Fira

Description: Vourvoulos is a beautiful beach but the strong wind that blows frequently makes it uncomfortable for swimming. Sometimes, waves can be really huge.

Vourvoulos Santorini: Vourvolos beach is located 4.5 km from Fira, at the northeastern side of Santorini. This sandy beach is ideal for relaxation and water is almost turquoise blue. Vourvoulos beach is among the lesser known beaches of Santorini as totally isolated and providing relaxation and privacy.

From there, can also the visit the village of Karterados, a charming area with beautiful houses.

Unfortunately Vourvoulos beach is not well maintained and the beach can be full of garbage and trash. Also, it is a fact that the sea breeze here is very blustery which makes sun bathing at the beach to be a dangerous proposition. The waves too are huge and it is always advisable to be at a safe distance from the shoreline. Vourvoulos beach is ideal for one who wants to spend quiet holidays.

Baxedes beach

Location: 10 km north west of Fira

Description: An isolated beach in the north of the island, close to Oia

Baxedes Santorini: Baxedes (or Paradisos) is a long dark sand/pebble beach on the north coast of Santorini and the extension of Cape Columbo. It is located 3 km away from Oia. The beach is partly organized and sunbeds and umbrellas are available on one part. It is a perfect beach for relaxation and privacy. Note that the beach can be windy and wavy and ideal for surfing and kitesurfing. The water is shallow and it can be a good choice if you have children.

Armeni beach

Location: Below the village of Oia Description: This is the beach of the little settlement of Armeni. It has black and red volcanic pebbles.

Armeni beach Santorini: The beach is located on the northwest part of Santorini, just below the famous village of Oia. It is a very small pebbled beach and absolutely not organized. It is a perfect place to get away from the busy villages. A couple of restaurants are located here. The beach is accessible by descending almost 300 steps on foot, or by boat. Armeni was the old port of Oia but today it is not much used except by some yachts, as it is a safe place to drop anchor.

Gialos beach

Location: 9 km south of Fira

Description: Gialos beach is an isolated beach of Santorini offering an amazing view to the volcano.

Santorini Gialos: Gialos beach is an isolated beach of Santorini and an ideal beach for privacy and relaxation. The landscape is impressive and the spot offers amazing view over the volcano.

Exomitis beach

Location: 13 km south of Fira

Description: Exomitis beach is where the huge 3.5km black sand beach of Perissa ends. It is located near Vlychada.

Exomitis Santorini: The beach of Exomitis (or Cape Exomitis) is located at the south part of Santorini. This is actualy the end of a huge black sand beach that starts from Perissa, 3.5 km away. This beach pass through famous and busy beaches as Perivolos and Agios Georgios but Exomitis is a very quiet and relaxing place with plenty of space and ideal to find some privacy. Note that this beach is not much organized. It is not the most beautiful beach of Santorini, but it will offer you some relaxiation away from the crowds.

Kambia beach

Location: 14 km south west of Fira

Description: Kambia beach is an isolated beach located between the Red beach and the White beach.

Kambia beach: Kambia Beach is located at the south west coast of Santorini, near in Akrotiri village, 14 kilometers away from Fira. It lies between the Red beach and White beach. Actualy, the Red beach can be seen from here. It is an isolated beach and not easily accessible. You need a 15 minutes drive on a dirt road or 30 to 45 minutes by foot. It is a beautiful and spectacular pebble beach with clean crystal waters and it is surrounded by beautiful cliffs. This beach is isolated and hard to access therefore, ideal for relaxation away from other busy beaches.

There is a small restaurant there offering also sunbeds and parasols.

Caldera beach

Location: 10 km south west of Fira

Description: Caldera beach is a small sandy beach located on the north of Akrotiri

Santorini Caldera Beach: It is a very small black sand / pebble beach located on the north of Akrotiri, and very close to Gialos beach. As for Gialos, the beach offers amazing views over the volcano, the islands of Thirasia and the perched villages of Fira and Oia. The beach is isolated and perfect for relaxation.

There is a couple of taverns there.

Xiropigado beach

Location: 5 km north east of Fira

Description: Ksirpigado is an isolated beach located between Pori beach and Vourvoulos beach.

Santorini Xiropigado beach: It is a black sandy beach located between Pori beach and Vourvoulos beach. It is an isolated beach ideal for privacy. Note that the beach can be wavy .

Mesa Pigadia beach

Location: 14 km south west of Fira

Description: Mesa Pigadia is an isolated beach near the village of Akrotiri

Mesa Pigadia Santorini: It is one of the isolated beaches of Santorini located around Akrotiri village, along with famous Red beach and White beach. It has black pebbles and beautiful crystal clear waters. The beach is accessible by boat or by dirt road. This beach is ideal for relaxation and to take a brake crowded beaches and villages. As most beaches in the area, it is surrounded by beautiful cliffs. There is a traditional restaurant here which offers sunbeds and umbrellas

Pori beach

Location: 6 km north of Fira

Description: It is an isolated beach on the east coats of the island

Santorini Pori: The beach of Pori is located 6 kilometers from Fira, on the eastern coast and in close distance to Cape Columbo. It is one of the isolated beaches of Santorini and ideal for relaxation. The beach is great for families but it can become windy and wavy.

A small traditional tavern is located there.
